I haven’t watched the BBC or any mainstream channel since 2011.
Like Iain I would find doing so now disturbing.
It’s bizarre though. As a child of the 50s & 60s I was brought up to revere the BBC. Back then it was our source of News & entertainment (when we didn’t make our own entertainment which we mostly did).
Although my parents were both truth seekers & were suspicious of the state, their access to alternative information was very limited back then.
Generally people knew so little beyond what the state & its agencies told them.
Now, since the advent of the ‘world wide web’ the curtain has been pulled back. All institutions of the state & internationally are seen as evil by an increasing number of people.
Ironically we have much greater access to information & know so much more about the true nature of our world (we still have a lot yet to learn imo), yet is the world a better place? In fact it’s a much worse place today than it was when we lived in blissful ignorance.
Truth always has a price.

I think the old saying, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance" is something many of us have learnt applies more to our own governments than to any external threat.
The world has got worse because it’s in transition from one reality to another.

I think this “fighting for truth” BBC promo is a sign that the elite are losing ground.
That BBC Fight For Truth promo propaganda short was brilliant. I listened to it a second time reversing the roles in my mind so that freedom fighters world-over were taking the fight to corporate-controlled Mainstream Media propagandists like the BBC. Same voice, tone, music, images - it works. Even better.

It is amazing the brain washing of the bbc that I never really noticed until I got rid of my TV, and then when I go and see my 80 year old parents, it is just on all the time, pervasively feeding them propaganda with the veneer of credibility and authority. They did grasp something was off through Covid, Ukraine etc but with no real ability to seek alternate sources (other than the daily rags) they are just sitting ducks to this claptrap. I’m not sure many of my age are much different.
Most of my relatives live their life through a constant television augmented reality too. It's like they inhabit an alternate universe. Not the real one. Worse perhaps is the SMART devices grabbing our attention, hogging and wasting our time, snaring us into a digital gulag.
I'm hardcore myself, never owned a television, no SMART devices or wifi in my home. Just saying.

And because of that they will never be disbanded even if the entire country no longer paid for a TV licence. They would just be closed down under the name of BBC and opened up by the state and security services as another entity under another name and continue as before with the public still being forvced to fund it under a new tax. Maybe they would call it something like The Education, Communications & Technology Fund. All the same propaganda and ideology would be there and they would probably try to get it included on the national curriculum, perhaps offering soon to be school leavers the chance to work for free as a "valuable work experience" thus allowing them to find a 'suitable' potential workforce for further indoctrination. As far as I can see, the only way to stop the state propaganda is to stop the state itself in its tracks and replace it with something else.
Is there a similar organization in the US (where I live)? I do not watch TV nor the so-call MSM on the internet. My access to "news" is hit or miss. I find what feels like trustworthy news on Substack (including your writing).

The BBC does not only control content in its own backyard but it is instrumental in implementing censorship throughout the media world wide through The Trusted News Initiative and Project Origin. And it’s Reality Check programme is just a ‘media literacy’ operation that is brainwashing viewers. The trust ratings for the BBC keep falling dramatically snd this won’t improve until it gives up its grovelling following of the rich snd powerful who spend billions every year controlling the media, social media, and ordinary people.
