UK social media was alight a couple of days ago (at the time of writing) with various individuals and groups congratulating each other, and even taking credit, for forcing the Labour government into an ignominious “climb-down” or embarrassing “U-turn” on digital ID.

Since 2020 , I have felt like boarding school has consumed the country. Whereas the boarding schools (prisons) where once localised to a village or an old estate's grounds , it's now as if the boundaries of these institutions have dissolved and regrouped in a new structure which encircles the UK , that is to say : we are all prisoners here, of our own device. The police have turned into school prefects. The control network that we are being presented with is a nightmare to beat all nightmares.
We live in a highly polarised time where it's either A or B . I think it is time to say : okay, this technology is pretty far out but if you use it to make us prisoners, then it says a lot about you, and those qualities are not associated with wisdom but fear and cowardice. Since the moral argument is always used to justify the change, perhaps it is time to throw it back at "then" - something like the COVID poster "look him in the eyes and tell him you obeyed all of the rules" but changed so it's the PM looking at the people and Iain saying "look them in the eyes and tell them it's not about control" ? I dunno. I just think that the behavioural science is in overdrive and if we got savvy at it , it could be a useful weapon. Like memes , I guess.
Spot on about fear and cowardice being the motive - psychopaths seek power and control because it makes them feel safe. Except they cannot escape their pathology (paranoia) and never do feel safe. Which makes them crave even more power. But then they get scared of being found out and punished (see also what happens in boarding schools - you're absolutely right about that - they are institutions of abuse and trauma-based mind control - trust me, I know from personal experience), so they spend half their time trying to escape detection and perceived punishment, which is also a bad act for which they might be punished, and so on and so on in an endlessly increasing spiral of pathology.
The best way to understand these creatures is with psychology (proper psychology, not the psychology they have captured and corrupted since Freud and misrepresented to the public). Psychological education is key, in the end.
For example - the AI speed cameras are quite capable of working out if you are a regular speeder or not. A first letter that say's "you've been clocked at 35 in a 30, but since it's the first time, nothing will happen. But if you do it again, then you will be fined.
